The Versatile 2 Piece Set from Free People

There are a lot of reasons to love a 2 piece set. One of the reasons I love them are for how versatile they are. You can mix and match them with different pieces from your closet to create different outfits. You get more wear out of it, which makes it more worth the purchase! 2 piece sets are also easy to style. They already come complete with a coordinating top and bottom so all you need to do is accessorize!

Usually a 2 piece set consists of a top plus shorts, pants, or skirt. All super cute options! But, what’s even better is a set that ups the versatility factor and is also convertible. This is the perfect convertible 2 piece set! This set is from Free People, one of my favorite brands. I love their bohemian mixed with trendy vibe. If you’re looking for pieces that are unique with a ‘wow’ factor I suggest checking them out here.

This set is a top + short combo. The top is unique in that it is meant to be worn as an open tunic to show off the shorts, almost like wearing a duster over and outfit. The top is very lightweight and flowy and can also be worn as a maxi dress too if buttoned up, making it convertible. It’s semi-sheer so you can still show off the shorts even with the top buttoned up. Even better, you can decide how many buttons you want buttoned up so you can create your own slit in it. Besides being convertible there are a lot of things that I admire about this set. There are so many details that make it amazing. First off, the color and print are so gorgeous! The mix of sage and blue kind of remind me of the ocean. I’m feeling all the beach vibes while wearing this! It’s also really cute with the subtle stripe print throughout. I am really drawn to the contrast eyelet bodice with the v-neckline. Summertime is when the eyelet details come out to play and with this set you get it in the front and back for double the cuteness! The v-neck is also great for showing off those layered necklaces. One detail you can’t miss is the smocked neck. It’s not often I find smocked details anywhere other than around the bust or waist so this is a unique twist that gives the top a romantic touch. To add to the romantic look there are ruffles on the shoulders and skirt hem. Simply beautiful! These shorts are also the perfect compliment to the set. Not only are they stretchy for ultimate comfort, but they are high-rise for a flattering look. They are also smocked which adds texture in contrast to the smooth, flowy top. Since the top is maxi in length, it helps to have the contrast so you can see the shorts amidst the layers of the top.

The Rx

This outfit was fairly easy to put together since most of the work was done already. With the top and bottom figured out I just needed to focus on accessorizing! As I mentioned before, the v-neck is good for showing off layered necklaces so I chose a 3-layer gold necklace. To coordinate I chose some gold bracelets to go with it. Next, I went with neutral shoes and handbag. I didn’t want to take attention away from the 2 piece set so I stayed away from pops of color. I bought this bag while in Australia a few years ago so I am glad circle bags are trending right now! It was also one of the few bags I own that had gold hardware to match the gold necklace and bracelets. Now all that’s left is deciding whether to button or unbutton the top! I’m leaning towards opening it during the day then buttoning for a more dressy occasion.
